About Us
Hibiscus Coast based Greek band
Sounds of Greece is a Hibiscus Coast based Greek band specialising in weddings, engagements, dinner and dances, anniversaries, and corporate events: any occasion that requires amazing Greek live music to dance to. They also perform at Greek theme nights at good restaurants around Auckland.
This 2-piece Greek duo will create a wonderful, energetic atmosphere at your event and keep all your guests entertained.
Theo’s Greek Taverna
Theo previously owned and operated his award-winning restaurant, Theo’s Greek Taverna, in Wellington for almost 10 years, featuring authentic Greek cuisine, live music and dancing performances. Over that time, the establishment won numerous awards, including Best Greek Restaurant in New Zealand and Wellington’s Best Bit of Fun award. Those years of experience ensure that Theo is able to “read” an evening and know when to implement changes in tempo and momentum to ensure that guests enjoy a memorable evening.
Corporate functions, parties & weddings
Guest lists at most corporate functions, parties or weddings are fairly diverse and include people of all ages. Since everyone has different tastes, it takes a skilled band to please everyone. These Greek musicians know how to perform a mix of musical styles and tempo to make everyone happy and put them in a partying mood.
Greek musicians taking you and your guests to the Greek isles
Theo and Cristina created the Sounds of Greece programme to bring together music and dance that will transport you to the Greek Islands for a few hours: Theo performs music and vocals while Cristina’s vocals, dancing, warmth and smile, and the duo’s connection with guests will ensure your function is enjoyed by all and fondly remembered for a long time.
Sounds of Greece are based in Millwater and are happy to travel anywhere across Auckland.
“Last night was truly memorable. Thank you once again for your tuition and for the wonderfully suitable music that gave everyone such a lovely time last night. We look forward to meeting up with you and your band again.”

Greek musicians in New Zealand
Music has long been Theo’s passion, commencing violin lessons at the age of nine and progressing to mandolin in his teens. With two cousins he formed a trio that performed at many different types of functions, prior to moving away from Christchurch to pursue his corporate career in various locations around New Zealand.
Wonderful chemistry
After meeting Theo in 2005, Cristina embraced Greek music and dancing with huge passion and became fully conversant with many Greek dances and styles of music. Her enthusiasm for Greek music, culture, language and traditions is palpable and the wonderful chemistry between the duo assures your guests of an exceptional, fun event.
Playing great music together in Greece
Cristina and Theo were married on the beautiful island of Skiathos in 2009, known for its excellent nightlife and stunning beaches. During their visits to Greece, they have regularly performed in tavernas, their favourite being Anemos Taverna, overlooking the old port at Skiathos where some scenes of the wonderful movie Mamma Mia were filmed.
